Today Sophia and I visited the Pentagon Memorial. We went with a couple of friends and it's a good thing Megan was there because she soon became our tour guide. From walking us to the memorial to explaining all the symbolism in the layout of the memorial we were set. I'll be honest upon first glance it's simple and not very awe inspiring, but when you walk around and see all the symbolism in the layout, and think back to that tragic day, it becomes so much more than simple. I think it's a beautiful place to ponder, mourn, and remember the fight against terrorism. Some photos I took.....

Am I Crazy or just a Patriot?
Sophia and I braved the 30,000 plus people today at the Road to Victory Rally for the McCain/Palin campaign. We parked in a nearby shopping center and then waited over an hour to be bused to the park where the rally would take place. They wouldn't let me take the stroller so by the end I felt like my arm was going to fall off. (a little upset when I got there and saw other strollers) All and all Sophia was pretty good considering the circumstances. We had a lot of fun chanting: USA, USA; Sarah, Sarah; and John McCain, John McCain! What could be more fun that listening to Eye of the tiger knowing that in a few short minutes you would be addressed by the next Pres and VP (hopefully)!!! I stood as close as I could to get a view. It wasn't that bad. When I stood on my tiptoes I could see Palin and McCain when they spoke. My camera is old and doesn't have very good zoom capabilities, but I tried to get some shots. Mostly blurry though. Sophia slept through some of it as seen in the pic below and then in fear of waiting 3 hours for a bus to take us back to the mall I high tailed it out of there after hearing just a few words from McCain. It payed off. I was on the first bus back to the mall. I'm glad I braved the crowds with Sophia. It really was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Bitten
No, I'm not talking about Sarah Jessica Parker's cute, affordable clothing line or something to do with the Twilight Vampire series (although I'd rather be posting about one of those things.) Today Sophia fell down and on her way down bit her tongue. OUCH!!! There was a crying, screaming baby, a mouth full of blood, blood stains all over her clothing and mine, and a scared, anxious, panicking mother! I called my Mom and thank goodness she answered. She had some good, comforting advice.
Poor Sophia is having a hard time eating and drinking now. She's already a picky eater so this new injury is not helping things. The next few days will be very challenging. I hope her tongue heals soon.
