Sophia's new bed

Last month Sophia surprised both Rob and I by climbing out of her crib one day. We knew her crib turned into a daybed so we decided to just take the front off. The only thing it didn't come with was a bar or rail of some sort so she wouldn't roll out. The first night I put down a whole bunch of pillows and quilts down, but she slept just fine with no rolling out.
I began to search the web for a bar we could buy. I didn't have much luck. Either they were as expensive as a toddler bed (might as well buy one of those instead, if you're going to pay that price) or they only worked on twin beds. I finally thought to check Ikea's website. There for $10 was a bar that fit and matched her day bed perfectly. I couldn't be more happy. So the next day Sophia and I drove to Ikea to get it and we brought it home and Rob had it up in less than 15mins. I can't believe how perfect it looks and works. Now I sleep much better at night knowing she won't be climbing out of a crib or rolling out of the daybed.
She has loved her new bed from the start. During the day she loves to climb in and play with dolls or jump around. Thank goodness we have had no trouble with her going to bed at night in it either.

July 4th

We joined the March for Liberty on Capitol Hill
(it's a lot more enjoyable protesting in the sun, than the pouring rain)

we loved this guy's sign

and this lady made me feel overdressed

Juicy fabric + elastic thread

I don't know what I love more... this amazing fabric or what elastic thread in your bobbin can do.
I will say the combo is lovely, especially on this cutie.

I had no idea what Rob had gotten us into. ( I thought I knew, but looking back I was clueless.) Being the wife of a medical student had been a little more challenging than I imagined. I guess these years just prepare you for the next chapter, wife of the resident.
Rob's new title: MSIV
Here's to the final year!!! White Coat Ceremony Aug. 2006

Fireworks

We watched the DC fireworks from the Air Force Memorial again this year. Only this year we actually saw them. The weather was great (not hot or humid) and we enjoyed listening to the military band as we awaited the show.

My little girl...

When asked how old she is going to be says two and tries to hold up 2 fingers on the same hand. Usually she gets one finger up on each hand.

Loves:
*playing dolls(teddy bears)
*cooking in her play kitchen
*walking around in Mom's high heals, pushing a shopping cart or lolli(stroller), with purse swung over shoulder and keys in hand ready to go out the door

Is talking up a storm. She will repeat almost anything you say or at least make a good attempt.

Has a few of her own words: meme= blanket and lolli= stroller

Is sooo Happy all the time

Still refers to herself as baby

Sleeps in a big girl bed
(photos to come, she climbed out of her crib a few weeks ago)

Is addicted to Skype

Is still a Mommy's girl and has the worst separation anxiety

Has the cutest giggle
Runs, hops, and skips around the house with her teddy bear backpack on
Wishes she had her own cell phone
Pulls anything and everything out of her hair
(hence bangs in the eyes, we are growing them out)

My Mom gave Sophia this adorable dress. The only way I could get her to pose for photos was to let Teddy in on the shoot.
