Two Shops- Fredericksburg

When my parents were in town at Christmas we visited downtown Fredericksburg. It's so cute and has lots of fun stores. The weather that day ended up being perfect for strolling outside.

Shop #1
Things in a Room:
a fabric and gift shop
( I was in heaven)
I scored some oil cloth at half off and some Chalk cloth at discount also. Then I came to find out that they both have phthalates. Which are used in plastics to soften them. They can be harmful, cause cancer, blah, blah, blah. But apparently they are found in plastic that we use daily (shower curtains, plastics in our cars). They have been banned in use of children's toys. So I'm undecided on how I feel about them or what I will use my fabric for. I was going to make those cute little roll-up chalk mats for the girls, but that's on pause for now.
Any how this store with filled with beautiful fabrics, notions, and gifts galore. I can't wait to go back.

I love the fabric in the embroidery hoops. I've been wanting to do this in the girl's rooms for a while.

Shop# 2
Red
vintage, modern,antiques!
( the photos tell all)
So much fun to walk around this place.

Can you see my reflection above?

Most of December '10

The first part of December was a little tough. Rob was on a pretty intense rotation and only had 4 days off the entire month. One of those days was not Christmas. Thank goodness my parents came for the last part of the month. Looking forward to that helped us get through the beginning of the month. On one of his evening off we headed over to Six Flags to see the lights, enjoy some rides and skate.

Does it look like we are ice skating? Well, we are not. It was some kind of plastic skating. None the less, Sophia believed she was ice skating and loved every minute of it. She was so excited to skate because she had been watching some Barbie movie and Angelina Ballerina where they ice skate. Too bad they didn't have any skates her size. We got her the smallest pair and they were still swimming on her.

This was the first year Sophia decorated a gingerbread house. Her favorite part- eating the frosting!

We gave these out as neighbor gifts- Hot Cinnamon Milk Mix- Yummy!

Christmas fell on Dec 23rd at our house. That was Rob's day off for the week. Sophia's Christmas was filled with Disney Princess. She took forever to open gifts. She would open one and then want to take it out of the box and play with it for a while before she moved on to more.
One of the highlights was her swing set from Meema and Peepa.

Scarlett picked up on how to play with this toy right away. I love this photo with her hand blurry from hitting the blue lever.

And of course everything goes in the mouth.

Some Disney Princesses turned Barbie 3 Musketeers

What would Christmas be with out the Tamales!
We made dozens! Meat, red sauce, green sauce, chicken, pork, and even sweet ones.
We are still enjoying them. Just take them out of the freezer and steam on the stove. Delish.

Scarlett and Peepa

All dressed up for church.

Giving Scarlett loves

I told Sophia to fix Scarlett's headband

This is fixed to her.

Can we please stop taking photos?!

My Dad took the next 2 when he was watching Scarlett for me one afternoon. She loves to chew on her toes.

We loved having my parents come to visit. The girls were spoiled with love and attention. It was so nice to have family around for the holidays!

New Braunfels Children's Museum (Nov '10)

The week Rob had off back in November we also took Sophia to a small, but really fun Children's Museum. As you can see all 3 of my children enjoyed it.

Hands down Sophia's favorite was the painting. She could have stayed in that room all day.
